I was born in the year of 1952 in Kingston-Upon-Hull, East Yorkshire
and lived on the famous Hessle Road for the early years of my life.
At the age of 12 we moved to a posh area of Hull, (inside toilets
and gardens), at 15 I left school and joined the army. Where I became
an Apprentice Tradesman vehicle mechanic.
I served in the army for about 16 ½ years, finishing my career
as an Artificer Vehicles at the age of 32. I left the army on a
matter of principle which was very sad but I felt justified. On
leaving the army I worked in a factory producing roof tiles for
10 years as a maintenance fitter. During these ten years I worked
on PLC controlled production lines gaining experience with computers.
This encouraged me to study for a degree with the Open University.
My first job working with computers was for the Humberside Probation
Service (HPS), Community Service Unit (CSU), were I used my practical
skills of DIY with the new IT skills gained whilst studying for
my degree. After a couple of years I managed to secure the position
of IT Officer for the Service. I was fortunate to be involved with
the role out of the new IT systems for the Service and was appointed
as the Lotus Notes administrator and application developer. Whilst
seeking a training course (which I was to fund myself) at I.T. Interface
(part of the University Of Hull) I was offered a job as a Systems
Trainer with the main responsibility of Lotus Notes.
In October 2000 I became self employed, working as an IT Consultant/Trainer
for Lotus Notes and Domino.
I have now taken early retirement as of 9th September 2002 when
I was 50 yrs.
